Tall Ships

Some of the world's most historic and majestic tall ships will be joining the War of 1812 commemoration events. The resources below will help you learn more about them, and connect with the organizations that support and operate the world's fleets of these amazing naval vessels.

Operation Sail, Inc.

With the assistance of Sail Training International (then the British Sail Training Association), the first Operation Sail was held in the summer of 1964 in conjunction with the New York World's Fair and became instantly iconic.

Pride of_Baltimore_small

The Pride of Baltimore II

Pride of Baltimore II is a reproduction of an 1812-era topsail schooner privateer. She is Maryland's working symbol of the great natural resources and spectacular beauty of the Chesapeake Bay region, and a reminder of America's rich maritime heritage.

American Sail Training Association

The American Sail Training Association was founded in 1973 by a small group of sailors and enthusiasts led by Barclay Warburton III, who had been so impressed by the European phenomenon of sail training that he wished to establish a similar movement in America. Little did our founders know how successful they would be!

Sea Education Association

If you're thinking about studying abroad, I'm sure you have looked at a map. But did you know that there is only one program that will take you to the three-quarters of that map that is blue? SEA Semester. We take college students to the open ocean on a traditional sailing vessel to learn about the science and culture of the sea.
