Sea Services Organizations

In the years after the War of 1812, and throughout the 19th and 20th Centuries, members and veterans of the US Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard formed many professional and fraternal organizations related to their service, the ships (and later, aircraft) on which they served, and the theatres of action to which their service took them.  Civilians also created organizations to support robust naval services that could protect the nation's sovereignty and prosperity by keeping the seas free. Today, a wide array of organizations and associations in the United States continues this tradition of support. Whether you are a civilian, a serving member of a sea service, or a veteran, check out the cross-section of organizations below, and find one that fits with your interest or experience.

U.S. Navy Armed Guard Veterans

The U.S.N. Armed Guard World War II Veterans Association is the official organization of Armed Guard veterans and their families. The Armed Guard was a service branch of the US Navy responsible for defending U.S. and Allied merchant ships from attack by enemy aircraft, submarines and surface ships during WW II, serving primarily as gunners, signal men and radio operators on cargo ships, tankers, troop ships and other vessels. Disbanded after the war, the Guard is little known or remembered, but without the courage and sacrifice of the men of the Guard, victory in World War II would have been more difficult and taken longer.
